Description
Chapman University's Argyros School of Business and Economics (ASBE) will offer the one (1) winner of the Tomorrow's Leaders Scholarship Program a scholarship for the Flex MBA Program anticipated to be worth $62,500. There will also be up to fourteen (14) runners-up to whom a scholarship for the Flex MBA Program anticipated to be worth $15,000 will be awarded.
Entry submissions will only be accepted via the online form provided at www.ocmetro.com/tomorrowsleaders and must be submitted between February 8, 2012 and April 6, 2012.
Submissions will be assessed by the Chapman ASBE Admissions staff to determine an unlimited number of semi-finalists. Semi-finalists will be notified of their semi-finalist status by April 13, 2012. To have the opportunity to become a finalist, semi-finalists will be required to complete an application for admission to the Flex MBA program by June 1, 2012, and be accepted into the program. Application fees noted at www.chapman.edu/mba will be waived for all notified semi-finalists who apply to the Flex MBA program as a part of the 2012 Tomorrow's Leaders Scholarship Program. Up to fifteen (15) finalists will be selected and will be notified of their finalist status by June 20, 2012. Should no semi-finalists meet the criteria to become finalists, no scholarships will be awarded.
Finalists will then be judged on the basis of predetermined criteria, and the winner will be the individual found most likely to positively impact the Orange County business community.
One (1) winner and up to fourteen (14) runners-up will be selected from the group of finalists and will be announced at a special ceremony to be held at Chapman University on June 29, 2012. Only one (1) scholarship will be awarded per person.
Applying for Admission to the Chapman University Flex MBA Program
Admission to the Chapman Flex MBA program is competitive. Applicants are evaluated on academic performance, leadership potential, work experience and communication skills. Admission to the program may be achieved by the completion of the following requirements:
- Submit the application for admission.
- Hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Achieve an undergraduate grade point average of 2.500 or higher, calculated over the most recent 60 semester (or 90 quarter) credits completed; these 60 semester (or 90 quarter) credits may include an average of up to 15 graded semester (22½ quarter) credits of graduate-level course work that are applicable to a graduate degree program at an accredited institution other than Chapman. The graduate-level course work must have been completed prior to consideration for admission to Chapman.
- Achieve an acceptable score on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
- Submit two letters of recommendation from individuals familiar with the applicant's academic or professional abilities.
- Applicants who have completed their undergraduate degree outside of the United States may be required to achieve an acceptable score on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
Eligibility Requirements
- Relatives and dependents (1) of Chapman University employees, board members and volunteers are not eligible. Individuals and their relatives who are connected to the development, marketing or awarding of this scholarship are also ineligible.
- Selection of the finalists, winner, and runners-up is based on merit alone and not financial need.
Entry submissions to become a semi-finalist will be reviewed for:
- Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Quality of experience and accomplishments as listed on the submitted resume
- Level of contribution to the Orange County Business Community thus far in the individual's career relative to years of work experience
- Originality of proposed future goals and explanation of how an MBA will help the individual reach those goals
- Acceptance into the Flex MBA Program
- Level of academic achievement
- Level of volunteer activity
- Quality of writing in essay
- Level of contribution to the Orange County Business Community thus far in their careers relative to years of work experience
- Originality of proposed future goals and explanation of how an MBA will help the individual reach those goals
Distribution of Winner's Scholarship Award: The winner will be eligible to receive a tuition scholarship estimated to have the value of approximately $62,500 to be awarded by semester provided recipient meets the ongoing criteria. Recipient may not receive other scholarship awards if selected for this program or financial aid awards exceeding the established cost of attendance. No cash or other substitution, assignment or transfer is permitted, and recipient is responsible for any associated taxes.
- To receive the scholarship award in full, the winner must remain continuously enrolled part-time in good standing academically and not be placed on academic probation during the winner's entire time as a student in the Chapman University Flex MBA program. If at any time the winner does not remain in good standing academically, the scholarship award may be adjusted by the Chapman University ASBE Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs.
- In addition, the winner must enroll to begin their studies in the Fall 2012 semester and must be enrolled in the amount of MBA-level course units each semester set forth as follows to receive the maximum scholarship award of $62,500. Any variation from the course load listed as follows could result in a reduction in the anticipated scholarship award amount shown:

Distribution of Runners'-Up Scholarship Awards: Up to fourteen (14) runners-up will be eligible to receive a tuition scholarship estimated to have the value of approximately $15,000 to be awarded by semester provided recipients meet the ongoing criteria. Recipients may not receive other financial aid awards exceeding the established cost of attendance. No cash or other substitution, assignment or transfer is permitted and recipient is responsible for any associated taxes.

Entry Submissions
Submissions will only be accepted at www.ocmetro.com/tomorrowsleaders from 12:00 p.m. (noon) PST on February 8, 2012 until 12:00 p.m. (noon) PST on April 6, 2012.
To be considered for selection as a semi-finalist, participants will need to submit their name, home address, phone number, a valid email address, the university from which they earned their undergraduate degree and the year that they received their undergraduate degree, along with a copy of their resumé. Participants will also have the option to include a brief written statement describing why they feel they are worthy of being considered for the Tomorrow's Leaders scholarship. All this information must be submitted through the Tomorrow's Leaders website at www.ocmetro.com/tomorrowsleaders between noon PST on February 8, 2012, and noon PST on April 6, 2012. Nominees should put "Tomorrow's Leaders Program" in the subject line of their e-mail submission.
Chapman University, OCMETRO and all program sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, failed, misdirected, damaged, illegible, or incomplete submissions. Submissions will not be returned.
Except where prohibited, participation in this scholarship competition constitutes semi-finalists', finalists' and winner's consent and release to University's or respective agents' use of winner's and finalists' names, their likeness, their voice, their opinions and their biographical information for publicity, or promotional purposes in any media or manner, now known or hereafter devised, worldwide, without further payment, consideration, notice or approval.
Judges' Decisions and Notification of Awards
By completing a submission, one gives Chapman University the right to evaluate and compare submissions against the submissions of others in order to choose the semi-finalists. Decisions are final. Semi-finalists will be notified by phone, mail or e-mail by April 13, 2012.
By a semi-finalist completing their application for admission into the Chapman University Flex MBA program, that individual gives Chapman University the right to evaluate their application in order to determine if the applicant should be offered a spot in the Flex MBA program and if the applicant is chosen to be a finalist. Finalists will be chosen from the pool of semi-finalists who submit a completed application for admission into the Chapman University Flex MBA program by 5:00 p.m. PST on June 1, 2012 and are accepted into the program. Finalists will be notified by phone, mail or e-mail by June 20, 2012. The winner and up to fourteen (14) runners-up will be notified by phone, mail, email or at an on-campus event on June 29, 2012. All decisions are final.
All semi-finalists will receive an e-mail or letter notifying them of the winner and runners-up by July 13, 2012.
If the winner ultimately chooses to not enroll in the Chapman Flex MBA program, no winner's scholarship will be awarded. If no runner-up enrolls in the Chapman Flex MBA program, no runners'-up scholarships will be awarded.
Disqualification
Before scholarship funds will be awarded, all information submitted on the submission form and in the Chapman University Flex MBA program application will be verified. If ANY false or misleading information is submitted on the submission form or the Chapman University Flex MBA program application, the participant will be disqualified without notification.
