UC Irvine’s School of Law Dean Erwin Chemerinsky, law faculty and reporters met last month for the second UC Irvine Supreme Court Year in Review discussion to analyze and consider the bench’s cases and decisions. The panel discussion is available as a video on the university’s academic extension site.

The discussion features Dean Chemerinsky, UCI law professor Jennifer Chacon, Pepperdine University professor of law Robert Pushaw, National Law Journal and PBS NewsHour reporter Marcia Coyle, and Wall Street Journal reporter Jess Bravin, and was moderated by UCI law professor Richard Hasen.

The review addressed the 2011-2012 term in detail while covering several of the 75 cases heard. Topics included the First Amendment, the Arizona immigration ruling and the healthcare law.

The video is made available through UCI’s OpenCourseWare (OCW) program, an initiative to make online educational information freely available.

“Our panel discussed this year’s Supreme Court term in detail, and addressed decisions that will impact our nation in the months and years to come,” said Larry Cooperman, director of UC Irvine’s OCW project. “The placement of the lecture on our OCW website is relevant not only because this is a trending topic, but is also a lecture that will appeal to those interested in learning more about the Supreme Court.”

The video can be viewed here.
