![]() For a special twist, this year’s giveaway will feature the new and highly popular Doritos Locos Tacos, which wraps the restaurant’s iconic taco in a Nacho Cheese Doritos shell. When the first base is stolen during the World Series, fans will be able to pick up a free Doritos Locos Taco at their local Taco Bell. If the first stolen base occurs during the first four games of the series free tacos will be offered on the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 30. If the stolen base occurs during the final three games, the tacos will be available on Monday, Nov. 5. Since debuting in March, the Doritos Locos Tacos have broken sales records for Taco Bell. The company sold over 100 million tacos during the first ten weeks that followed the launch, and it marks Taco Bell’s largest and most successful product launch in its 50-year history. In the second quarter alone, Taco Bell saw a 13 percent increase in its same-store sales, a jump that is largely attributed to the introduction of the Doritos taco. The company is currently testing two new Doritos-inspired shells, Flamas and Cool Ranch, and hopes to expand the success of its partnership with Doritos’ parent company, Frito-Lay. Taco Bell, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, is headquartered in Irvine. Yum! also manages the fast-food chains Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut.
