Aquaterra Spa at the Surf and Sand Resort

Innovative therapies and the soothing sea work in harmony at this Laguna Beach venue.

Can anything be more relaxing than a day at the beach?

Think about it: the sound of the crashing waves, the sea-salted serenity and the blissful sunshine that’s an Orange County trademark.

Throw in a plush bathrobe, slippers and a delicious cocktail, and you’ve got a little slice of heaven on Earth.

Does that sound enticing? The Surf and Sand Resort in Laguna Beach offers such an experience. With an ideal beachfront location, the locale features seaside dining, luxurious rooms, private balconies and spectacular ocean views. It’s the perfect getaway for those looking to truly unwind. Aquaterra Spa, Surf and Sand’s luxurious resident spa has a wide variety of treatments to help its guests relax and enjoy their downtime.

I recently visited Aquaterra, and upon my arrival I was warmly greeted and then provided with a locker, robe and slippers. I then met my spa therapist, who explained to me that I would receive the seasonal Made Fresh Daily treatment, a special package offered only by Aquaterra.

It furnishes certified organic ingredients (they’re available with every spa treatment) to create an indulgent experience that includes a massage, scrub, wrap and scalp treatment, along with a delicious beverage  that is served once the soothing session is completed. I was in heaven throughout my experience, 80 minutes of pure bliss.

The theme and ingredients used to create the Made Fresh Daily treatment change to complement the season. For example, this fall you can look forward to the Spiced Pumpkin Chai treatment. It begins with a milk-and-honey wrap and massage followed by a pumpkin scrub and a sweet almond oil scalp treatment, all finished off with a warm chai tea latte.

After showering to remove anything left over from the scrub, I was greeted with my chai tea latte, brought by my spa therapist. I relaxed in the lounge with a magazine and my delicious drink, and I could’ve stayed forever. The spa treatment, chai tea, waves and a good read were all I needed to make me feel completely renewed and rejuvenated.

Spend a day at the Aquaterra Spa at the Surf and Sand Resort, and watch the water as your stress and tension are carried off as quickly as the waves recede into the blue Pacific.

QUICK FACT:
Chai tea comes from India, where 5,000 years ago it was first used to combat major illnesses. Much like coffee in the U.S., it is a long-standing part of Indian culture.
