About 500 of Orange County's elite descended upon The Island Hotel in Newport Beach on Wednesday evening for what has become a local tradition: OC METRO's Hot 25 party.![]() "Tonight, we want to focus on the remarkable list of individuals who have ties to, or are based here, in the most dynamic county in America," OC METRO Publisher and Churm Media CEO Steve Churm said during the presentation. ![]() This year, the list of honorees includes individuals across a range of industries, such as transportation, technology and health care. A nod was also given to six locals who, despite physical and financial challenges, achieved what few do: They climbed to the summit of Mount Everest. "It is my honor to present each of these personalities and share how they are changing the way we think, live and interact in this community," said Churm. As part of the program, Waltos Group of Northwestern Mutual Managing Partner Bob Waltos presented the 2010 Quiet Achiever Award to Artyn and Max Gardner. The award recognizes those who are making an impact in their own "quiet way." The Gardners were honored for their philanthropic efforts and support of United Way, Human Options, Families Forward, WISEPlace, Komen Foundation, Girl Scouts, Girls Inc. and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. ![]() "I have had the great fortune to know Artyn and Max, and the words 'caring and class' come to mind over and over," said Churm. "Few give as much and as sincerely of their time." In keeping with the theme of giving, Churm said that a portion of the proceeds from the event will go toward Irvine-based Families Forward, a 26-year-old agency that provides support and tools for homeless families.
