Members of the Orange County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will be honored today at the OneOC Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards Luncheon for completing more than 4,000 hours of volunteer work so far this year.

Established in 1971 and hosted locally by OneOC, a consulting organization that helps connect volunteers with nonprofit groups and causes, RSVP is one of the largest national senior volunteer organizations with more than 400,000 active members across the country. Last year, Orange County members collectively donated more than 220,000 hours to the community, a total of approximately $5 million in value.

RSVP volunteer hours were contributed through places such as senior centers, local police and fire departments and independent nonprofit organizations.

The awards by OneOC, a nonprofit organization that provides volunteer, training, consulting and business services for other organizations, were created to recognize and encourage outstanding community service.

The awards ceremony will be held today at the Hacienda Restaurant in Santa Ana at 11 a.m.
