![]() The gala will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction. Guests will be able to bid on more than 200 items, including a “Wall of Wine,” which features a large selection of top-rated wines from around the globe. The silent auction will be followed by dinner, a live auction, and musical entertainment and dancing. Vikki Vargas, Orange County bureau chief for the NBC4 television station, will be the event’s master of ceremonies. Laura’s House will also honor local philanthropist Anne MacPherson by presenting her with the Crystal Heart Award. McPherson will be recognized for her participation in the $4.5 million fundraising endeavor that Laura’s House embarked upon to rebuild its emergency shelter and purchase a new facility for its transitional housing program. Edwards LifeSciences, the Irvine-based medical technology company, will be honored with the Corporate Crystal Heart Award for its support of Laura’s House through its corporate giving initiative and volunteer program. Since 1994, Laura’s House has strived to help victims of domestic violence by providing such services as emergency shelter and transitional housing, a counseling and resource center, and legal advocacy. Laura’s House also engages the community through its outreach and prevention programs, including one that educates local teenagers on the topic of dating violence.
