Kaiser Permanente Orange County has received the Women’s Choice Award recognizing it as the 2013 Best Hospital in Patient Experience in Obstetrics. The award was presented by WomenCertified, which selected the hospital after examining a long list of criteria that included female patient satisfaction surveys and clinical excellence considerations.

WomenCertified is a consumer group that represents the collective voice of the female demographic and a go-to source for referrals to top businesses preferred by women. WomenCertified grants the Women’s Choice Award to businesses and brands that meet a higher level of customer experience. The selective award is based on tens of thousands of women’s surveys that are conducted in addition to in-depth research, and patients’ reports on their own of healthcare experience received by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

“This is a tremendous honor for Kaiser Permanente Orange County, Anaheim, and Irvine,” said Julie Miller-Phipps, senior vice president and executive director of Kaiser Permanente Orange County. “To be awarded among the Best Hospitals for Obstetrics by WomenCertified validates our commitment to provide extraordinary care and service to our moms-to-be and their precious babies.”

According to a study by the American Academy of Family Physicians, women make or influence almost 90 percent of health care decisions for themselves and members of their family. The Women’s Choice Award indicates that a hospital or medical group meets higher standards based on a woman’s preference, and the award allows expectant mothers to select a facility that best fits her maternity needs.

“Kaiser Permanente Orange County’s selection by WomenCertified as one of the Best Hospitals for Patient Experience in Obstetrics differentiates it from other choices in the area,” said Delia Passi, CEO and founder of WomenCertified, and former publisher of Working Woman and Working Mother magazines. “Women have many choices when it comes to maternity care and they set the standard for customer service. Women’s Choice Award recipients have demonstrated extraordinary service in meeting the needs of women and their families, and represent the smart choice for women.”
