The Automobile Association of America has recognized the Island Hotel Newport Beach, a lavish coastal business and vacation resort, with a Five Diamond Award by the travel and tourism industry confederation for the 21st consecutive year, recognizing the luxury Orange County resort as one of the nation’s top lodging destinations for 2012.
The hotel is recognized for its highest level of service, consistent quality, plush facility and best amenities. The Irvine Company’s Island Hotel is one of two Newport Beach AAA Five Diamond destinations next to sister hotel, The Resort at Pelican Hill and one of only 126 hotels throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean to be recognized.
In marking award, the hotel will expand its event space to create Newport Beach’s largest ballroom and indoor-outdoor premier entertainment facility. The planned expansion will include a 6,000-square-foot meeting and event space to be completed as early as November of this year.
The Island Hotel Ballroom will develop from 6,600 to 8,700 square feet making it the largest in Newport Beach and will accommodate nearly 600 guests. The ballroom’s reception area is adding more than 1,000 square feet for pre-event networking and trade show-style displays.
In addition, the hotel’s Cabana Room and Pavilion will expand, increasing the resort’s combined indoor/outdoor venue space for weddings, dinners, business meetings and other premier events. A 750-square-foot Balboa Room will be added as a supplement to the Cabana Room for smaller, such as corporate meetings.
“When completed, our ballroom will be the largest hotel ballroom in Newport Beach,” said The Island Hotel’s general manager, Donald Stamets. “The blended indoor-outdoor space of the expanded Cabana Room will create a stunning backdrop for weddings and other celebrations, while the Balboa Room is the perfect staging area or elegant meeting room unto itself.”
The luxurious Island Hotel is comprised of 295 guestrooms and suites with more than 25,000 square feet of event space, a spa, fitness center, resort-style pool and the Palm Terrace Restaurant & Lounge. Located in the heart of Newport Beach, the hotel is steps away from shopping at Fashion Island and in the midst of local business ventures.
