![]() Suzanne Broughton: What is your organization’s philosophy for social media? Elaine Cali: We strive to listen to our community and what they want in order to better serve our visitors. We try to be relevant and timely, and inform while we entertain and educate our followers about O.C.-related events, news and destination trivia. SB: What’s your best tip to other entities who want to grow their facebook fan base? EC: Get to know your community. Experiment with the content and images you provide and posting times. Don’t try and sell them; give them something that interests them. SB: What did you learn the hard way? EC: Sometimes the content you think will be a hit – or you want to be a hit – just isn’t what your community is interested in. SB: How important are ‘brand advocates’? EC: Your voice only lights the spark. It is your community that provides the fire that keeps the conversation alive and keeps it real. If you give them reasons to engage and get enthusiastic, they will naturally become your brand advocates.
